FOUR OAKS, N.C. (WTVD) — U.S. Highway 301 was shut down Tuesday evening after an accident which left a police cruiser on its roof.
It happened around 5:30 p.m. near Boyette Road while officers from the Newton Grove were chasing a motorcycle. They were being assisted by the Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and the Four Oaks Police Department.
A car pulled out in front of the chase. The motorcyclist made it around the vehicle, but a sheriff’s office vehicle hit the car that pulled out.
The Four Oaks police cruiser swerved to miss the vehicle and flipped over.
That officer was taken to the hospital. However, there’s no word on the extent of his injuries.
The motorcyclist was later apprehended.
